Travellers from Qatar have continued to flock to Singapore in the first three months of 2011, with a 34.8 percent rise in visitors, which comes on the back of a record year for Singapore’s tourism industry that saw total revenue grow to US$14.9 billion.
According to figures collected by Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the number of visitors from Qatar arriving in Singapore in Q1 2011 was 1,329, up from 986 in the first quarter of 2010, showing that last year’s impressive overall growth of 21 percent is being sustained. This compares to a global growth in tourism numbers of 15.7 percent for the first quarter of 2011, increasing from 2.7 million in 2010 to 3.1 million in 2011.
